Making a start

I've been into the Room of Doom!  I decided that the place to start would be the table.  I think we can all agree that it needed doing.  








I did a quick flick through all the papers to make sure there was nothing urgent and I shredded a few.  Then I scooped everything into a box.  


Which left things looking tidier.  I wondered whether I really need a printer, a printer scanner and a scanner.  I decided I do.  The big printer at the far end is a real workhorse which I've had for so long that the ink cartridges cost next to nothing but for quality printing on fabric I need the more modern one in the middle.  The scanner on that is pretty useless so again I want my ancient scanner.  Pity about that.




I chose ten books to go to the Sally Ann. I was tempted to go see Sally today but it's a twenty mile round trip so even though I've got a couple of bags ready that would be extravagant.





And maybe I should have kept this one.

  6. Oh my goodness I love this blog :)
    I hadn't really "found" it until now.
    I have a room of doom (kind of the entire loft upstairs), a basement of doom, and several boxes of doom. It's a mess around here.
    You've done a fantastic job with the table clearing today!

  7. The trouble with having more than two bags for the Charity shops is that most of them in city/town centres have no parking or access and you have to carry the flipping bags for miles! In my last clear out I canvassed several and found one on the ring road with a great big car park - became my firm favourite for when I had a car boot full! I never use the bins in car parks or the bags that come in the door since reading that the goods were sorted by a commercial concern and the best stuff sold off . The Guardian did an interesting report on the effect on clothing industry in Africa because of all the second hand clothes imported from this rake off from charity donations,

    1. I'm in quite a rural area and I can park (briefly) outside the Sally Ann. My objection to both the car park bins and the bags which come through the door is that all they will take is clothing leaving me with the rest to take to the charity shop.

  10. I thought about you today when I was trying to find my social security card. Trying to apply for my medicare and I can't find the card. I called them today and found out I have to go in to do the application and I have to take my marriage license and my birth certificate. So.......tonight I guess I will be tackling my own room of doom. I thought I had put everything in my family history folders but there is no ss card to be found. Bother!

  12. How about a house of doom-sad but true lately. Both grown kids rooms taken over as well as back half of the family room. When the snow melts (by 4th of July), a dumpster level purge will be in order.
