Dyeing for a change

I do like Blogland!  Two people whom I’ve never met have e mailed me to ask if I’m OK because I haven’t been around much.  Thank you – you know who you are!!!!  I think I’ve got the January doldrums.  I can’t dignify it into Seasonal Affective Disorder, it’s just post-Christmas idleness.

I haven’t been quite as busy with the decluttering but I have been doing a few things.  I have an elderly bathrobe (about ten years elderly) which was looking a bit stained and manky even though it is still well up to its job.

Anyway, I bought some dye and changed it to lilac to match all my other bathroom stuff.  And I am pleased with the results.

I’m even pleaseder (no,  I know there isn’t such a word but I’m so pleased I have decided to invent a new word) with this cupboard.  Sadly I didn’t take a photograph before I sorted it but believe me I couldn’t have stuffed another cookery book in it.  The Sally Ann has now got them and I’ve got enough space to store all the accessories to my Magimix and I’m planning a box of household DIY tools like pliers and screwdrivers for the remaining space.  (You can also see a first aid kit abd some jars of washers and screws and things for the DIY box.)

  3. It looks good I used to do it with my towels. I change the colour scheme in my bathroom then the towels to suit. Hope you feel merrier soon.

  5. Nice job on the dye job! I always find it hit or miss when I try it. Robe looks really soft. The purple color is lovely and it must feel like having a nice new robe :-)

As for the January doldrums, I heartily commiserate with you. It's been a bit of a blah month. I suggest you think of something exciting to look forward to for February (nice if it involves a little planning, some friends, a day out etc.). February is short but generally dreary. Then it's over and glorious March is here and with it SPRING! Even if it's not sunny and nice, at least it will technically be a new season.

  6. Oh thank you, one and all! Your comments have cheered me up! I'm wearing my "new" bathrobe and feeling good about that too.

  7. Pleased to see you are back and still sorting things out. Was beginning to wonder what had happened to you? I can't talk, I have yet to right something since before Christmas, but quite distressing that no-one has missed me! I have been trying to sort a few more boxes. Charity shops are a wonderful thing! 9. First, I love your new word "pleaseder!" I'm quite fond of making up my own words to describe things just right (my friends used to accuse me of this quite regularly). Awesome addition to the English language!

And the robe looks great! I'd have never thought to dye it (I've never actually dyed anything). What a wonderful solution that turned out fabulously.

  11. Reminds me of when I bleach washed a beat up pair of Levi jeans in college back in the mid 80's and discovered a "new" favorite pair. Wore them another two years until the crotch literally was disintegrated. I didn't know then that bleach would wear down the fiber-I just wanted the look.
