1st December is always such an exciting day! I love it!
It's the day when I get my Advent stable out. Advent started two days ago but Advent calendar and Advent stable makers can't cope with that! You may remember it from last year, I've had it for a long time and each year I take it out with renewed pleasure. Today it is an unremarkable stable but things will happen.
During December I want to share some of my Christmas bits and pieces with you. Some have been in use for years, like the stable. Some don't exist yet because I shall make them as the month goes on.
But for today, there's just the solitary donkey.
That's what I call a proper advent calendar - lovely
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteOurs is just cardboard filled with chocolate this year. We have a lovely wall hanging type, but I've not put it out for a few years.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so pleased you are back with your lovely Advent Calendar. I shall be visiting everyday for an update;-)
ReplyDeleteNot sure whether the Advent calendar will be here every day, Margaret but there will be regular updates on the situation in Bethlehem!
DeleteNot sure what you mean by advent began two days ago. Please explain! Love the stable and the lonely donkey. Mx
DeleteAdvent Sunday is the fourth Sunday before Advent so Tuesday was actually the third day of Advent. The commercial firms actually produce "December calendars". People using four Advent candles (maybe on an Advent crown) will have lit the first one last Sunday.
DeleteAdvent Sunday 2016 is 27th November, Advent Sunday 2017 is 3rd December. The kids miss out on chocolate next year but win in 2017!
That is really lovely. I think ones like your that can be brought out every year are great.
ReplyDeleteYour stable is lovely. Our nativity scene just sits on the sideboard with no stable... Years ago my husband made one for the church we attended. He thatched the roof with strips of palms and even made clay pitchers, a wooden manger and other bits and pieces - I'm still waiting for ours!
