Setting myself up for failure

I need a challenge but the challenge I fancy is one which I fear I can't meet.  How crazy is that!

The house needs to lose weight and so I've decided to take action.  April is my month to get radical.   I'm going to try and get rid of one item for day one, two items for day two and so on to thirty items for day 30.

However, I'm not necessarily going to make 1st April my one item day.  Far too straightforward!  There will be a one item day but it might be 12th April whilst 2nd April could be a day for thirty items to leave the premises.  However my days fall, 465 items should go before the month is through.

My reasoning is that it might be better to have the more demanding days at the beginning of the month whilst I've got maximum enthusiasm and to have a few less demanding days available for those can't-be-bothered days.

Does that sound like a good plan?

My apologies if you read the earlier version of this post.  Not sure what happened

  1. yes -- do the hardest first before you get tired -- then the majority will be done! I should employ the same technique with unpacking! I should give that some thought.

  2. It sounds like a sensible way to approach the decluttering. After so many years of decluttering I must say I don't have much left to get rid of but I do have tubs of items to sell and now that the weather is improving I need to make April the month I get more of that sold! I am right here with you on making my house lose some weight! ;-)

  3. I agree - best to do things when you feel up to it - and if some days you don't feel up to doing anything then you shouldn't worry about that either. Good luck and I think you should congratulate yourself on whatever progress you make.

  6. Sounds a great plan, I don't think I have enough stuff to get rid of, we have passed so much on in the last few years, and we simply do not buy so much stuff.

  8. I decided to follow along with how you are doing as I find it motivating. My house desperately needs decluttering because as well as my own stuff I am the repository for everyone else's junk. Am aiming for 10 items a day - so far so good. Anna
